My arms & lats & things have been getting big faster than I expected now that I'm lifting regularly. I'm just doing the "less thinking, more doing" workout. It's awesome! I'm one of those lucky women who has an easy time building muscle, though. Too bad I'm still working on squat mechanics, so my legs have yet to follow suit.

It's weird, after 5ish years of BJJ and fairly regular running, my upper body is disproportionately stronger. Probably the BJJ, all that pulling and pushing. Makes me feel like I don't count as a woman as much, though, since the first thing everyone says when they're trying to encourage ladies is "oh, but you have so much strength in your legs!" Yeah.... not so much.

I'm going to a big 40 year student reunion in October - wearing the same evening dress as for 40 years ago when we were graduates - but I had to have the zipper in the back moved because of my bigger lats! The rest still fits - or I should rather say it fits again.

I also have the issue with the waist being too big on my jeans. My solution is to get low-rise jeans. With fashionable shirts being on the long side these days, I don't need to worry about overexposure, and the waist gappiness is much reduced.

Given the general rate of inactivity in the US I'm fairly sure that the thigh situation of most American women has nothing to do with working out.

Oh boy, I have the pants problem and the tee shirt problem, and I don't even have very big arms! I can't imagine what it's like for you ladies. No wonder Michelle Obama wears sleeveless dresses, right?

I realized I can't shop at Old Navy anymore. The size 2 jeans are about 4 inches too big in the waist (although they fit in the butt and hips), and those little girly tees they have with the fitted cuff around the arm cut off my circulation.

Designer jeans fit in the hips and waist, but I'm constantly having to tug them down over my thighs when I stand up because apparently designers aren't used to women with strong quads.

What about fitting into sports bras?
My lats have gotten bigger...the other day I tried on 13 sports bras at Target from different manufacturers and they all fit the same. Okay at the rib cage, too loose in the chest and super tight under the armpit, cutting off my circulation and in one instance I nearly had to dislocate both my shoulders just to get the damn thing off.

I went to Title IX and found only one bra in the whole store that fit ok - for $38. Turns out I'm a 40A. Guess I'll be going bra-less some of the time...

Yeah, I've been there, that's why I wear almost exclusively sleeveless shirts year-round (I'm in Pittsburgh, so I have to put a sweater and scarf over my tank top eventually). Girly t-shirts are the worst, they must be designed for chicks with no muscle in their arms because if they fit everywhere else, they are always ridiculously tight around the arms for me.

I also have a pants problem: if I can pull them over my ass and legs, they are several inches too big in the waist. It's funny (actually kind of sad) that a lot of sedentary women would love to have that same "problem", and yet they are scared of the results of weight lifting, not realizing that the results they want usually come from weight lifting.
