Stumpamaniacs: I am looking for some volunteer contributors for my food magazine, Spezzatino, which supports a charity: the Healthy Food Bank.

Looking for writers and photographers with an interest in food and volunteering for a good cause.

We are looking for contributors who are interested in writing about or photographing/illustrating the following general themes:

Vol 16: Potatoes (deadline Aug 1, 2011)
Vol 17: Tea (deadline Sept 15)
Vol 18: Corn
Vol 19: Eggs
Vol 20: Nuts

We welcome proposals for articles and images that correspond to these theme areas.

In particular we would appreciate pieces about “food travel”, food science, food history, food politics/policy, and local/regional cuisines. Interviews with interesting food-related people are welcome (e.g. cooks, farmers, fishers, scientists, etc.). We will also consider poetry, short stories, restaurant reviews, and recipes that correspond to the theme areas above. We welcome high-quality photography, including photoessays or photomontage.

In return for volunteering, your work will be featured in a magazine with international circulation. You will receive a copy of your published work, which you are free to use and share as you like.

Are you familiar with Oishinbo? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oishinbo) It’s a cooking manga that has a few ‘best of’ volumes out in English that are based around a particular type of food, and it’s an interesting look at Japanese food and the culture surrounding it. No recipes, alas, though it always makes me want to try cooking some of the things they talk about.
