My first trainer was a very good OL (John Mccaul) in the 50's, he got within 10kg of the WR snatch. In 1970 when talking to us, he fingered the US as the first users at the 48 OG. US coaches always say it was the Russians in 1952. I have looked at the lfting from that era, and have made my mind up, I will let others do likewise. I am always puzzled by my local gyms, as all the users never compete, and most of the competitors (real sport not standing around stage wearing your girlfriends underwear) don't use. In all the time since 1970 I just don't get it. I got beat by a lot of guys on, (and I also beat a lot) and never bitched, it was their choice and mine, but why so many use recreationaly is a mystery to me. Thanks Krista.
